Koel: I didn’t even dream of being an actress. I wanted to become a psychiatrist. Anyways, the reason behind my success is my hard work.

NewBanglaMovie: is it only hard work?

Koel: Well the second reason is my good luck.

NewBanglaMovie: Even if there are other actresses like Srabonti and Shuvosri , why do we see u casting in all the films produced by Surinder Films? Is it your luck?

Koel: This is rather logical than mere luck. You need to understand that not only in Surinder Films, I have acted in Venkatesh Films as well. On the other hand, these actresses have also acted in Surinder Films as well. Producers focus on profit. So they choose those on screen couple or actor who they think will make the movie a super hit. ‘Paglu’ was a super hit in which I acted. Other hits under the banner of Surinder Films were ‘Mon Mane Na’, Bolo na Tumi Amar, ‘Hero’.

NewBanglaMovie: Then what about luck?

Koel: Audience love my performance and this is what luck is and then comes hard work. When u combine these two the result is a hit film. Since I am making the film hit I am getting calls from the producers.

NewBanglaMovie: Rituparna Sengupta and Rochona Banerjee were booming in the film industry when u made your debut. Later on there were Srabonti, Shuvosri, and Payel. Lastly, Paoli Daam and Ananya Chaterjee made their entrance in Art films. How did u survive in such a tough competition?

Koel: whenever I got a chance to work in a film I devoted myself to it. The rest lies with the audience. Last year I have also achieved several Viewers’ choice award.

NewBanglaMovie: so u mean to say that u don’y have any competition with the existing actresses?

Koel: It is a competitive market. But I don’t really bother about all this. All I focus is on my own work. I try to give my cent percent in my performances.

NewBanglaMovie: In how many films are u starring recently?

Koel: I don’t work simultaneously in two films. Now I am starring in a film co produced by Jit and Sree Venkatesh Films.

NewBanglaMovie: What about love….

Koel: I am in love with my work but will definitely love the person I marry.

NewBanglaMovie: Would u prefer a non-Bengali husband or a Bengali one?

Koel: that really doesn’t matter……..the important thing is that he has to be faithful.
